Now forming group to enroll in 16 hour course.  To be offered somewhere in the U.S. Southwest (Calif, Arizona, New Mexico, or Nevada) depending on participants.

If we get approximately 15 participants interested in any particular area, then Neil Bungard will travel to us to give the course.  Vegas !!??  Maybe we can schedule with the long awaited electric Trike Fly-in !!??

If we can't get 15 ish people interested, the course will be held in Tucson.

Please use the RSVP button below to sign up as "Interested."

Don't be a shy lurker, mark as "interested" it doesn't hurt if it turns out you cna't attend, but it helps us figure out things.

Once we get enough people interested, we'll talk about location and dates.

Until then, I've set the date for this event imaginarily on 1/1/2016 (just so it won't expire on us while we're forming up).  I'll edit the date when we decide on one

So it is Written, appon stone tablets (or manilla certificates) that a class of 15 Trike masters from far and wide. Are the now in charge of their own Destiny and FAA paperwork.  Let the fun continue amongst great new friends, and may we all never get Ramp Checked.  Great to meet everybody, Blue skies to all!

  • Ken

Thanks all for making the class a great success. The class was great, I for one learned a lot. Really glad to match up some of the names with the faces. You guys are a lot of fun to be around.

  • Rick D

A big thank you Ken for all your hard work in making this happen and to the pilots who allowed us to tinker with their machines! A great class with a lot of useful information. It was fun meeting pilots from different parts of the country and sharing knowledge and air stories.

  • Leo

First and foremost a HUGE thank you to Ken! You went the extra mile man, excellent class, thank you for setting that up! And just as important another HUGE thank you for all who brought their Trikes for us to work on! :D

We just got home safely, and I wanted to let you guys know what a wonderful experience the entire class was! Meeting some of you guys for the first time, as Ken stated, putting faces to the names and seeing Ken, Lauren, Glenn was great!

I'm on the Forum, as is my contact info. Feel free to stay in touch guys, either thru this media, or e-mail.

Made my appointment for Wednesday with my FSDO. Took several discussions on the phone call to get someone that understood what I wanted.  They don't get many Light Sport repairman at the Long beach office.  Anybody else made the trip yet?

  • Ken

I made the trip last week. Told them I needed to file and 8610-2 for repairmain inspection 16 hour course and they made me an appointment and told me to bring in my certificate of training, and all of my airplane documents, Airworthiness, Registration, Operating Limitations, etc. When I arrived the Inspector had actually looked up all of the required actions on his part and was ready to go. Very helpful! He had me fill out new forms (as Neil Predicted) with a duplicate set and made sure they were prepared per recent guidance. He also gave me his card to contact him directly if anything gets kicked back from OKlahoma. Even replaced my airworthiness as the previous owner had laminated it - and that just isn't proper.

  • Leo

Awesome guys! Made my app last friday, went in, filled out the 8610-2, and walked out with my temporary Airman Certificate. It was EZ-PZ. They guys at Riverside Airport are extremely helpful.

Success....? well sort of.  After, learning the guy, that would have been the right guy.... left  Early without noticing he had an appointment with me at 1 pm, I explained to another (very ernest helpful) fellow why I was there and that no, I'm not here for my A&P after being twice asked. He downloaded the instructions and explanation of the certificate, then finally figured it out and made the right forms.  We had a nice chat and I was cool...and oh well it only took 2hours! (sigh) Then when I arived home, he called to inform me he forgot to fill in one block on the temp cert, and could I please come back tommarrow for a new one!  Ah life in the Big city airport.  Not many ELSA repaimen at the class C

Dude, I hear ya. The closest FSDO office to me is Baltimore, MD. Seriously? That's a two hour drive. You can bet that they will not only have no idea what the heck I am talking about but they will also do everything in their power to make me go away. Uugh, I'm calling tomorrow to start the process.
