Wow, they were called Buzzards...that is awesome.

  • RizzyWizzy

Btw, I call my Airborne Edge..."The Phoenix"

Hey Rizzy..the Buzzard trikes were the original Airborne machines built in the late 80's..heaps of fun & very basic with lots of power to weight performance..no a lot of speed with the Arrow wing compared to today's trikes! A bit of history is good for the soul.

    Wefly,

When I look at my Edge trike, it doesn't seem it is fundamently any different than this Buzzard...maybe a bit more refined...It's funny when I bought this trike new, it was very sleek, wheel pants and  other bells and whistles...and then I changed it...Put tundra tires on it, will be converting the nose gear to a tundra tire too, am thinking of putting a brand spanking new 582 on it and then have backup fuel pump system.

Wow, good times for sure! XLNT bit of history!

    Buzzards--  because you BUZZ things!!!

What's he mean "not an ultralight"  -- reporter got it wrong (again) or are trikes not ultralights in Oz?

Hm, he got your name wrong too Chris ...  probably answered my own question?

  • wefly

Buzz, Buz,  Buzzard..Actually..the reporter wasn't even there when we did the film shoot! Rumour has it that consuming beverage managed to hit head & land in hospital. The editing was done in the studio with a few mistales..but who,s perfect anyway... the flying was good then as it is now! We have the advantage of flying amazing trikes now with the history in our souls..& memories in our hearts!

Reply:No, trikes are not ultralights in Australia. We have a certain Order for trikes, CAO93.32 Weightshift Controlled Aeroplanes. Ultralight have several Orders and usually have a tail & control surfaces;-)).

Thanks for sharing Chris.  Interesting that the reporter refered to the aircraft as a toy :)

Please know that I'm still keen to get a Tanarg off you some day.
