Trees- Great Pilot!!! (but, I'm going to say it-- Not being Smart!!!)

Speaking about how many hours should a pilot have before he takes a passenger, there is NO DOUBT in my mind this pilot is VERY SKILLED and could get out of some serious situations. The problem for me is that this guy flies purposefully into serious situations it's difficult/iffy to get out of. So, in terms of how many hours does this guy need to be competent skilled-wise, he is undoubtedly skilled, but I wouldn't say he's a good pilot.

How many hours should he fly before he takes passengers? Or me ..... or you? Or your wife or child??? I bet you can guess what most people would answer-- NEVER! (No amount of hours would be sufficient for me to fly with this guy. As great and fun, and popular, a guy as he may be ...)

in fact, I wouldn't want him on an XC team with me because there's a decent chance something will happen to end the trip for us, possibly end it very badly.

I'd be afraid if he was coming to fly-ins, like Oceano, because a crash would just devastate that little airport on the edge of being bulldozed over.  It severely damages a sport (Triking) which is struggling for credibility, positive image and an industry that needs young pilots.

This guy was mentioned in Jozinko's videos (BTW, his skills did NOT get him out of the situation in this video):   http://alltrikes.com/elgg/videos/view/14882/abcrash

There was a post just recently about that jerk Super Dell getting Powered Parachutes banned along the state of Oregon Coast!!!!  ONE GUY and an ENTIRE STATE is ruined for others.  The Oregon Coast is beautiful-- HERE's part of our West Coast 2300 Mile Adventure:

Ok, rant off  ;)   but  seriously, we are all ambassadors and responsible for the safety of others and the sport.

Here's him in another vid with passenger (someone in the YouTube comments said this was a single person trike, I can't tell if that's a real second seat or not):

I was watching it and thinking what I was thinking--  and I thought to myself, you know if this was a WWII video and he was putting highly trained skills on the line to save others, dodging flak, and terrain, I'd be very impressed with his exemplary piloting.  Unfortunately, that's not the case on either count.

yes very well said xc there are two prspective pilots here in these videos one I have let my wife fly with  one I would never let my wife or myself or encourage anyone to fly in or with. and the other statement is also very true one we must all take heed for the sake of this sport true again xc we are judged by are actions and unfortunately their could be a thousand safe good pilots but the one super stuipid owl kicking woofo dell is going to take presidence in their judgements  against us.

David, you are right. The video says it is an Air Creation Racer which was definitely a single place trike.

I had to look at when the vid was made.  His last post was in 2008.  The last comment sadly is probably correct .... "Must be dead by now".

He clips the tree at 00:07 (right at the beginning of his slalom)--  I've seen him clipping a tree, and branches flying off in another video, maybe a different camera angle on this flight?

Great comments guys!  I think it takes guts and integrity to politely speak up, I'm proud to be part of your sport.

XC... just following on from your YouTube (GoPro) Heroes, this video's always comes back to the forefront of my mind. The competitive element to push the 'extreme' is evolving into  progressively more dangerous acts to gain audience attention and bragging rights. Some of the camera manufacturer marketing even encourages 'pushing the limits'. You be the judge...but skip the first two minutes.

An interesting legacy in a pine box. According to the comments, it was the Oz trike manufacturer's representative that made the video. Wonder how the manufacturer feels about this alignment and if still employed by them.
