Ok peter so thats like 74 pilots including me that have had the privlege to get some training from you and bring you a flag from other countrys and all the ausies youve trained .5000 trike landings of which youre being modest probably not counting t/goes.than of course formation flying and of course all youre mylitary exp flying jets and helicopters. I think somewhere you have guru stamped on youre licence? Thanks for all you do to promote this sport mate.

  • white eagle

Yft the real question is. How many flags do you have?

  • YFT

Hi Jeff, Yes I have had a lot of landings. The total I put in was of all types. remembering that I fly around 900 hours a year and most of these are circuits. By the way all the landings are in my logbook. I was a bit surprised as well.

  • jeff trike

YFT, are you Mr. 50000 landings?

  • YFT

Hi WE, We didn't get snow yesterday but we did get rain and 45kt winds. You know I didn't fly yesterday...
Do I like the Streak 2B? Yes I do, its the best wing in the 2 stroke aircraft over here. Flies really well. All the best
for Chistmas and the new Year.

  • white eagle

yft I sent you some snow to relieve you but it melted so some rain instead . you should be getting it pretty quick. I am like a fish out of water in the heat. Had my fill of it in new Mexico. but taught me about those big boomers though. just curious how do you like the streak wing , I liked it. I may not get airborne on the 1st but I will put it up as soon as I have a good opportunity to fly. I've really been itching to fly more in the winter.

  • Jozinko

Yep, we will see. I have my trike in hangar now, the weather have to be allow it...and an alcohol level maybe... :)

  • YFT

First Flight Of The YEAR... So we have two pilots up for it. Ken and WE, I will see them both in the sky via our virtual flights on Alltrikes. We need to get as many pilots involved as possible. SO HERE THE PLAN. TAKE A PHOTO OF YOUR FIRST FLIGHT IN 2016 an post it on the site with a comment. We need to know where you are and the time or day if it is not on the 1st. Not to hard is it. No other site does this and it has become an Alltrikes tradition.

  • YFT

Hi Ken and WE, Thank for your comments. Today it is 43C and its 35kts on the ground with 45kts at 2000 feet. Its only 9am. Bugger me I am hoping Summer is not going to be like this every day. WE I would trade you the white stuff any day for this heat. I have been up doing Circuits in a Airborne X 582 with a Streak 2B wing this morining. When we did stalls we went backwards. The thermals will take you to 10,000 feet today.

  • white eagle

You aussie mates sense of humor just amazes me. Really did anyone else catch why yft picks january 1st. Hell its summer there the just want to see us northern flyers freeze. Yft it suposed to be neg 17 below zero on the 1st with a wind chill thats 40 below zero. The sky is totally white and the ground is totally white . Ok ill set my trike up get some little plastic toy trees you wont know the difference.

  • Ken

Sounds great YFT. I'll meet you in the sky!

  • YFT

Hi Everyone... its that time of the year, yes we need to start thinking about the FIRST FLIGTH OF THE YEAR. So start planning your flight now. On the first day of 2016 I would like you to post a photo of your first flight.
Have a Marry Christmas and a Fantastic Flying New Year.
    From YFT

  • Jozinko

    Big Congratulations YFT!!!
I moved my trike to hangar to Dubova airport. I have 3 new students now and next 3 would like to be pilots too. I think, next year... On Saturday I will to fly to Nove Zamky airport and I will make a final exam for their students.

  • wefly

That's gotta beee a FIRST Pete. Both RAA & HGFA Qualified - Congratulations well done.

  • YFT

Hello everyone, I haven't been on the site for a wile. It seems a lot has been happening. Sorry to hear about another Revo death. I only found out about it today. On the YFT side of things. We have two new pilots and one has now left for a flight around Australia. I did say to Feng that he should consolidate his training first, but he decided to fly to Darwin from Melbourne yesterday. Bad Grandad is getting told off for putting the grand kid's photos on Alltrikes... All I can say is tough titties to my Kidd's. I am now a CFI and fully qualified flight training facility with both the RAA and the HGFA in Australia. I hope you are all well and having a great time flying.

  • white eagle

Yft your trikes look great . One thing that really sticks out that i love about the tanarg that i think is above standards. Is the pedals instead of pegs. And how the throttle works on the dash and peddles. It makes for such an easier transition between steering breaking and throttle management. I wish that i could incorperate that into my redback and soaring trike.
The fires here have been pretty bad. Got one in our aera now. Smoke is so bad i can hardly see the trees. Australian fire crews are now ariving in the pacific north west we are quite gratefull for the well trained crews thank you.

  • Rick D

Thanks YFT. And thank you David for good reasons why battens can get out of shape. Like the tire idea.

  • Ken

Probably one of those drop bears you all speak of

  • YFT

Hi everyone, In answer to the question on how did the batters get out of shape in the first place? I just don't know. This aircraft was flown from the Airborne factory by myself and the owner to YFT. The aircraft has been flown regularly and has never been packed up. There has been no change in the aircraft for five years. So we just have no idea why the batters on the left side went out of shape.

  • white eagle

Yellow. I offered it to henry so you got to take it. (Tweety Bird) i tout i sar a putty tat. Pettes tweety bird?

  • white eagle

Yft awesome pucture of you grand daughter glad that you got to spend some time and fly. Please say hi to anne for me.
Glad kelvin got his sst fixed by you. Please tell them hi for me as well as the whole gang.
I like to use a tire when reforming battens. Its much more control than your knee and easier on them
Battens deform for multiple reasons and changes can happen slowly or quick.one advantage to breaking down when you fly. You check them more regularly. Or at least i do. Hangared trikes may go longer without checking battons.
    Nose batten usually flatten first.
high speed g loading manuvers, leaving a batton in when breaking down , forcing battons in on set up. Poor care in batton bag in transport, wing pressing against ground . Howed i do peter?
Btw big bad grand pa dosent fit. Lucky to have you and anne grand pa. More like it. Every time i hear the word cuppa, see a helicopter veteran, or hear the word monty python i think about you two.

  • Jozinko

Hi Rick, I bent battens by high speed flight through a turbulence...
Yep YFT, good and useful article.

  • Rick D

YFT, I am curious also as to what may have caused the battens to get out of shape.

  • Rick D

    Congrats as well Nick!

  • YFT

Hi Dave G, The best way to bend your sial battens back into shape is to hold the batten along your arm and over your leg at 90o. This stops the batten from getting a sharp bend in it. I will try to get a photo for you. You only need to put a small amount of pressure onto the batten to make a small change in the shape.
