Will the taking-off and landing be at the airport? I recalled that there's private field for camping and airstrip, north of LHC airport.

Hello, ya all Please check out the event for Jan 18-21 at Lake Havasu - flying trike and air ballooning. I know Lake Havasu very well, during this time, it's perfect weather for flying.

Talked with dessert skies FBO today and they have some hanger space we can put a few trikes in also D2 Aero, so we can secure everyones bird inside.

This is the tentative schedule for balloon fest get together, however this is very flexible, Jan 18th, Friday arrival, you can free fly anywhere around local area. Sat. pilot meeting 8 am hanger 67, 8:45 formation flt down around Island to watch balloon launch at 9 AM. after that groups can form up to go to south to Parker or to north to eagle valley. then 6 PM is pot luck at hanger 67. then sun am will be another formation flt to Island to watch balloon launch at 9 AM. then free flying until departure. thanks Rebel

Yippee! I'll follow others going up north or south. It should be easier to follow the river up north and follow lake to south. I'm very familiar with the area since I was 5 yrs. old.

Great video attawayl ! Thanks for posting this Ken... The last time I was there was when I was a kid and they had just finished constructing the London Bridge. It's grown a bit since then : ) The video is just fun to watch, the colors and contrast between the water and desert is great. I can almost feel the warmth (it is really cold up here in Spokane right now) and I love the desert ... I can hardly wait !

Unhappy news. I have no choice. I had to make a decision not to go to Lake Havasu.
I felt that I'm not ready to fly myself right now. I haven't flown for almost 4 weeks now.
I talked to one of my friends who had been assisting me with landing practices. (he sits behind me). I am able to take off and flying by myself, with someone sitting behind me. The landings are the ones that I need to work on. I'm using my friend's wing, NW 17m for practice landings. Once I'm solo, then I will be using my wing, NW 15m.
That week, I was planning to go solo before I go to the Lake Havasu. The last 2 weeks of weather wasn't good to me. It was -11 degree at the area where I'm flying. Also there were days with strong winds. Wind less than 8 mph is better for me when I'm ready to go solo.
I'll be seeing you one of the days at the trike gathering. Please take pictures and videos so I can view them.
This weekend at the Flying J ranch could be good for me to practice landings in 0-8 mph wind. Hopefully that I'll be going there this Fri and Sat.
It would be great to see you there even if your not flying if you can make it. Lisa and I are coming down trikeless to hang with friends ! Hope you have good winds and gets some great landing training in this weekend. I know how frustrating the weather and winds can be when your looking for these windows for training. Look forward to meeting you !
If weather permits, I'll be flying out there and back-- in which case, I'd love to take you guys up. If not, I'll drive out just to hang out with everyone. Sally, Rebel (CFI) may be able to fly back seat with you if at Havasu if that works for you and him. No reason to rush things, it's hard to undo a bad landing, best to take it easy under no pressure and HAVE FUN!!! We will still have fun even if we don't have a trike there!
