If you put all your airports/off airports on SkyVector, you can make a cool map of the places you've been. These are mine:

In AUSTRALIA (MegaFauna 2014, etc)

Saline Valley Chicken Strip airstrip (October 2009). This airstrip located in Death Valley National Park. The strip is next to an amazing hotsprings. It is a great backcountry runway for pilots comfortable with short (~1,400'), uphill runways with no go around. If you've done Cabin Creek in Idaho, this is a bit easier. It is still pretty challenging but has been done in C152. My 182 had no problems. Also be careful of military activity. There were 15 F18s in the Saline MOA. They pass ~500 ft AGL off the departure end of the runway. Listen for the roar of incoming jets before taking off.

Nearby the "mysterious" death valley Race Track-- Strolling Stones:
Wow, what a beautiful oasis is in the desert! Nice place to end a flight day.
I think I recall that they almost closed that strip last year until RAF and a few others jumped in.

Yeah, I went to an RAF lecture locally a couple months ago (I'll try & find it) & we talked about all kinds of old airstrips they are discovering, fighting for & getting reopened-- but the point is, let's go use them!!! Let's plan to fly in to this one!! Who wants to go?
Here is a fun little story that happened at chicken strip

What a perfect little destination oasis to just camp or just get wet. When they're gone though, they're gone a very long forever.
Nice little follow up story Ken... True karma :-)
Sounds like a great place to go....Id be up for a trip someday
