Rainbow Beach 2013-- a Dream-Like Soaring spot

This came from the Oz Report. I believe it is actually in Oz. From what I see, it's like a dream land. I showed it to Ken and he wanted to go back to "my" dunes and practice some more to eventually get there. Anyone know more about this place?

There's a vid of me launching a Mosquito FLPHG here with the longest run ever ;)

(oh, hey, @Jeff_Trike posted some bitchin soaring in a fat lift band from Makapu a couple months ago-- use Search to find it.)

XC, thanks for posting.  Yes, I have seen that one before and I'm pretty sure it is in Oz.  Beautiful place to fly.  I can imagine that with right wind direction and magnitude that would be fantastic place to HG and ridge soar.

Rainbow Beach is about 2 hours Nth of Brisbane in Crayonbox's backyard. It's located immediately beyond the Southern most tip of Fraser Island on the mainland (see CB's videos from Hervey Bay to Fraser's Northern beaches). Very popular area for HG's around greater Noosa Heads. Though a strange arrangement, also where my CFI resides (and may even have been in this vid).

@Crayonbox , THIS is in your backyard!!!  Holy cow man!!!  That looks like the holy grail of dune soaring!!!

The local PG CFI reckons Carlo sand blow is recognized as one of the seven best PG sites in the world.

Yeah it's a crap pic i know, but the other shots with lots of PG's don't show the Bay

apparently this was very quiet for a Saturday, 7 PG's in shot.

Just for a little context.... this is Rainbow Beach with the HG launch site clearly visible.

And for the same pilot/trike, from Noosa Heads to Hervey Bay. Rainbow Beach is midway between the two (60 min flight).
