The Green 1 e-Glider from eUp Aviation- Canada. Electric Soaring Trike !!!

When I went to Dan Beattie's page, I saw this message from Dave G there about a Canadian Electric Glider company.  Too cool.  My next trike is definitely going to be an electric (used) soaring trike:

This is at Lumby, right next to you Dave G, right ! ;)   We need you to get over there and do some on the spot reporting!!!

The super reliable, instant on and low maintenance of electric trikes is amazing.  It's funny, they're not quite as quiet as you'd think-- much of that noise we think is engine is actually the propeller.  Being green is cool too.  No gas, no mixing, no fumes, no spilling in your car, no oil changes ....

I had a folding prop on my Mosquito-  I wonder if these soaring trikes have those?  My Mosquito was only about 15 HP (at max!)  The props sprung outward under load and feathered by folding together straight back when no engine torque was applied.

It is very close to where I live. It is also where I am taking flight lessons at.

One of the developers is my flight instructor Randy Rauck (I believe he is a member on this board) and the other one is John Mclintock.

You say the word and I will get you in touch with one or both of them to answer any questions or ?????

Hey @RauckOn,  we want to know lots more about your cool electric trike.  When will it be available?  How much will it cost?  Will there be Kits?  Can we use our own HG wing?  Which wing(s) does it come with / recommended for.  Can we put your kit on an existing soaring trike with a blown motor?  What's it's specs:  climb rate, max climb height, run time, charge time, battery type (lead, NiMH, NiCad, Lithium Ion, Lithium Iron, nuclear fusion, ...)  total weight, capacity, instrumentation, options, ...

Will you be touring with this trike giving demos?  How about Vegas-- that's somewhat central to a lot of members here / easy to get to.  Is it only available in Canada?  How 'bout Oz-- there are a lot of Ozzies here.

I think this is totally the future of triking and would like to get one so badly!

Dave G (@djg56), thanks for the info.  Let him know to check in if he misses this post!

David Coy (@wambleska) --  Damn right!  Looks great.

Notice to Any Trikers:  I would love to share ownership in an electric trike !!

  • RauckOn

The eUP trike is expected to be available as a bolt on propulsion kit for the northwing atf soaring trike in 2014. With any luck we will be flying her in the US near Vegas. Last year we did a flying tour in March and flew many times in AZ, SoCal and Oregon.

It really is a dream come true!

Quiet and smooth and performance is good for a self launch soaring glider like the Solairus : )

Long life, high quality, light Lipo batteries and other quality components are expensive at the moment and we are searching around for the best products at a fair price to market.

Stay Tuned for more details at www.eUPaviation.com

If you come to vegas PLEASE look me up. I'm really interested in these

  • XC Triker

Why don't we schedule a mini-fly-in / demo at the dry lakes at Vegas? Anyone up for a fly-in at Vegas? Even YFT might come for that one. Hey wouldn't it be cool if we got Mike Barber to come out and teach a weather class and discuss what soaring is about?

@RauckOn what are some dates that are good for you?

  • white eagle

    Iam game for that xc

  • Maarten

Sounds like fun. I'll be there.
Ps. October is a great time to fly here.
