Mine is the Blue and Yellow Moyes Lightsport-- I had faster gliders, but THAT glider was my favorite.

My wife, my friend Morgan and I went to the Owens valley to meet Kari Castle (multi-time Women's World Hang Gliding Champion) to lead us on a hang gliding adventure in the Owens Valley. The Owens Valley is high altitude flying (we launch at ~9K feet and achieve altitudes of 12 to 18K feet), fly for several hours and 10's to hundreds of miles away.
This video shows several launches- Walt's Point, where I landed 40 miles away after a spectacular flight past Mt Whitney. Paiute and McGee- where we launched with several thunder heads static in the distance. The lift was strong, TOO strong, Kari & I landed before a squall. Morgan ducked around the side of the mountain and flew about 60 miles- we lost radio contact with him just as he was telling us about the thunderhead he thought he could make it past. We had to smack him around when he finally called from 50 miles South. The Sierra/Owens is beautiful. Hang Gliding is a spectacular way to really get in touch with it.

The density altitude is evident in the launches (Janet says "That was horrible" on the first one, a dead wind launch at Walts Point just a couple miles from Mt Whitney, the highest point in the continental US at nearly 14,500 feet.) The Owens is known for big conditions and the silent beauty of the desert. Janet herself flew 20 miles in the owens-- her best flight-- she just reminded me I got her a cake with 20 on it!! Neat to see our dogs when they were young again ;)

Nice video.   I flew once at Owens Valley in October.  Nice lift.   I got into glass lift.  I don't remember how high.   I landed at lake Diaz (I think).
