I had a Garmin Aera 500 series and it was a really good GPS. Lately I use my iPad mini and the WingX Pro navigation app. Way more versatile/ and easier to always have the current, but in the end they both got the job done nicely.
Thank you Fun Factor & Sally, yeah two advantages of night flying I can see are 1) the air is often very smooth, and 2) easy to see other traffic (if they have lights on).
Just watching this one again and again. I'm really surprised how dark the runways actually look relative to street lights etc. Thank goodness for the strobes leading your way. Was this your perception also, or just an illusion due to the camera/lighting etc?
I can still remember my first airplane ride. It was in 1961, flying out of LAX at night. I had my nose pressed against the window feeling like Peter Pan as I watched the millions of lights below me....

Hey, maybe 3 warning lights on 3 trikes...you know, passed through some very dusty air or the exhaust of the alien spacecraft that passes by there from time to time.
