What LA looks like flying at night

Have to fly > 50 miles away and 3 hours with 10 landings at night.

Among other things, it's hard to judge your altitude at night.  Clouds are just blacker spots in the sky.

Black spots on the ground are either airports, or mountains, or lakes/ocean, or rough terrain.

I can still remember my first airplane ride. It was in 1961, flying out of LAX at night. I had my nose pressed against the window feeling like Peter Pan as I watched the millions of lights below me....

    Congrats David

Thank you again guys!  I was thinking that anyone could do this and I'd be very glad to take anyone on a night flight over a city (mine or yours)- Just takes a little planning.  Matt reminded me how nights are often calmer conditions-- can be just spectacular-  last night was near perfect and very Peter-Pan-like (my favorite ride at Disney even though it's a "kiddy ride" just for that reason).  I've helped a bunch of people get into XC and put one foot in front of the other, would be very glad to help any of you.  Then I thought, hey give me an excuse to come XC to visit you and we'll do it!! Actually, that was the point of this group:  Share Local Flights Around the World.  --  What are the cool things to fly over near your home, why should any of us come visit you???  I shared some of the cool things to do when you guys come visit me!!  YFT (@yarrawonga), you up for an LA night flight?  Or actually, I was just thinking that up where I live it's more rural (not great for night flying-  all blackness / hidden dangers), but then realized that it's easy to fly with a safe glide between my home airport and the local beach.  Can you guys imagine a calm moonlit night flight along the ocean-- maybe when bioluminescence is going off???!!!  Awesome.  The point is we need to share more--  the real purpose of websites like this is to do just that!!!
