One advantage of trikes is that by the time you are ready to solo you are instinctively trained step on the gas when you sense fear. I doubt this sort of accident (letting the throttle close by itself) could happen on a trike.
Good one Noel.. so good to see another happy face from YFT doing their best to achieve flight SOLO..!
May you have many a flight in safety with lasting memories of smooth landings. Congratulations.
The flight was fantastic. I wasn't at all nervous, but totally comfortable. It all ended too soon.
Video is an epic production ;-)
Award - mmm, I'd like a years worth of fuel please lol
Actually - has anyone ever videoed there first solo before?
Hi Damien,
I met you at Yarrawonga about 12-18 months ago when you were visiting Oz. When I saw the solo cans I did a double take thinking I dont remenber seeing these students at YFT. Congrats to you and both your students on this milestone.
Hi Trevor,
A big congratulations from Jan & I. You ride 2 wheels (motorbike), you drive 4 wheels (The Megafauna bus), glad to see you transitioning to 3 wheels.....and a glorious Tanarg no less.
Jan mentioned that "Solo" wasn't your preferred drink....something about coffee and cake??.
I was in the air when I heard YFT call for a full stop when you were doing circuits.....and I wondered was this going to be the time for your solo?.
It is a great feeling and a great accomplishment. Well done Lawrie. Onwards and Upwards
...; Bill,
That's awesome. This HG flight is what struck the match 25 years ago. It's now a warm fire. One day it'll be my celebratory solo - just to turn the wheel 360...
