115 HP Turbo 914 Tanarg- Air Creation !!

It's not a typical factory option, but it was done by Rotax and the Italian Air Creation Importer. So, it could be done again if you want ... ;) 100 HP is the legal limit for Ultralight category Aircraft ( FAI definition) in Europe-- So, not many 115 HP Trikes exist. This one is currently flying in mother Russia ! Looks beautiful though !

Is better if you have more power behind your back...but how much is enough? Where a low power engine has a maximum, then a high power engine has a 1/4 power reserve, yes I know... But I allways think 60HP is enough for normal recrational flying. The trike is lighter, landing place you need a smaller and allways you can have a 130kg heavy passenger :)

It's top speed is likely not much higher but it could climb like a scalded ape ( to borrow from Nathan :).  I bet this is more for show like Madmik notes. For extreme High altitude, this might be the ticket.

l'm a huge fan of the 80 HP engine in my Tanarg.  I fly some high altitude hot areas though fully loaded for long XC (not really the kind of flying most do) maybe in those circumstances I'd consider a 100, otherwise I see no advantages. As far as 115 Turbo, 25 more pounds and more complexity-- fahgetaboutit!!!!  ( but going over Everest like Hedgehog says, then turbo (and a space suit) are a necessity)

I read on airliners.net that this was a prototype built in 2010 in Italy to set a new altitude record in France, will be matched with a sail Air Creation Bionix

I know some pilots here, who have a 100HP engines on their trikes. When I was talking about it, they told me, than they didnt do full throttle... A gyro moment of propellers allways turned a trike into left or right direction. And more dangerous it is, when you need full power immediately.

I have 100hp with Bionix15. Even if I had 200hp the trike would not go any faster as the top speed is determined by the aerodynamics of the wing and not the engine power. What I get with my 100hp is just a great climb rate.
