stones spupidicity 101

the other day, for no good reason i changed my 12m wing for my 14.7. it was hot here in rain-country, in the upper 80s, i had to do it in the sun, i was tired and sweaty, it took several hours, and i KNOW i tightened the collar at back of the wing, well i THOUGHT i did. i was too tired too fly it then. a few days later i did challenge gravity with it and after landing decided there was even more fun waiting for me up there so took off again. this time i SLOWLY realized something had CHANGED. the wing wanted to increase the a.o.a MUCH more than this timid old fart wanted. i had to REALLY pull back on the 'suggestion' bar to hold a reasonable climb angle. i could have aborted, plenty of flat land, but i didn't feel threatened, except for having to REALLY pull back, AND back off the power to fly straight and level, at a paltry 38mph, instead of my usual blindingly fast 50mph. i wobbled around the patch trying to figure out what was going on. roll seemed ok, though sluggish, had the thrust-line changed, somehow? or was the wing the culprit. the landing was slow and floaty, but i got all the big bits down, as soon as i was able i looked up to find a 4inch gap between the hang block and the retaining collar, which had found a slightly fatter section of the keel to stop on. obviously i ain't no aerodynamacist but the wing had slid forward causing a LOT more lift in front of the hang block than i was used to, or wanted. certainly lessons to be re-learned here. just one more example of stone's stupidicity. monty ps, i'm SURE (i think) i tugged on the collar, when pre-flighting it, honest!
