Is anyone familiar with the JBM Carburetor Flange Socket Boot for the 912 shown at this link: http://jbmindustries.com/912FLANGE.html

Yes.  A few months back I purchased a couple of carburetor flanges and I was quite pleased with both the flanges and the company itself.  Prompt service and a great product indeed.

I don't know about their carb flanges, but JBM's exhaust springs were WAY WAY better than the previous ones I ordered.

Thanks for the feedback... Cody, did you notice any differences worth noting between the JBM boot and the Rotax boot?  Has anyone encountered cracking or other problems in their carb boots?  Mine look fine from an exterior visual inspection but I plan to replace them as part of the Annual.

The Rotax boot separated from the metal flange as has happened to others.  There wasn't any cracking or other noticeable defects.  The only thing I noticed was a rough sputtering effect on the engine and rough starting.  Once cranked the engine ran fine (meaning the suction kept the parts together).  Was a bit unnerving for I could have been flying like that for a while. It wasn't hard to find after wiggling the carb and when I did that engine tried to die immediately until I stopped fiddling with the carb.  Thank goodness for the upper spring Rotax put on it.  To think how easy it would have been to have an engine out because I didn't know to check the carburetor flanges. In defense of Rotax, I bought my trike used and the engine has a bit over 600 hours on it. I have no idea when the flanges were changed if ever, but I'll tell you this.  I'll never over look those flanges again when inspecting my bird. If you compare the craftsmanship between carburetor flanges you will no doubt see the difference in quality.
