Big Aerial cavalcade on Saturday

Come be apart of a brand new fly-in and aerial disp[lay for antique and classic airplanes

Sponsored by the FlaBob chapter of the Antique Airplane Association.

Identifier:  KRIR

From WikiPedia:

Flabob Airport (IATA: RIRICAO: KRIRFAA LID: RIR) is a small public use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) northwest of the central business district of Riverside, in Riverside County, California, United States.[1] The airport is located in the city of Jurupa Valley beside the Santa Ana River. Established in 1925 by Flavio Madariaga and Bob Bogan, the name of the airport was derived by combining the first three letters of their names.[2]

Same weekend as El Mirage fly-in !!! :(   However, through a complex analytical process involving the use of a map and simple arithmetic, I have established that it is possible to be at two Fly-Ins at the SAME time  ;-) without violating the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle.

SkyVector Linear Diagram of relativity and verification of the straight line principle.

You see, even without invoking parallel universes, time warps and worm holes, I have been able to calculate that FlaBob (aka KRIR,  or the home of the VERY FIRST EAA chapter EVER!!!) is less than 41 Nautical Miles from the center of el Mirage Dry lake.  Now, in the skilled hands of a "Pilot" using a device known as a Weight Shift Control Aircraft (WSC, more commonly referred to as a "Trike", or sometimes "Flying Lawnchair"), I have been able to deduce that a controlled explosion of approximately 3 gallons of a hydrocarbon dense liquid should propel said WSC/Trike from El Mirage to KRIR in under 45 minutes (excepting weather and other variables)

Thus, I have proven that it IS indeed scientifically plausible, very likely even, of statistically significant probability with a high odds ratio of attending BOTH fly-ins!!!

Now, if the WSC is raised to a higher energy level such as that found at Big Bear Airport (6752') at a very early time at or near sunrise (reducing but not eliminating the dangers associated with Mountain Flying), the resultant swoop down from said mountain lake airport (which has NOT heretofore been on XCT's list of airports crossed off) would lead to a high likelihood of exhilaration and avoidance of a certain amount of Class C airspace and a duration minimum of 1hr 20.  Your mileage may vary.

Who would like to study in real time this "Two-Fly-in" attendance theory with me?

  • Ken

Cool, sounds like a twofer is in order

  • white eagle

Ken what the hell is a twoffer?

  • Ken

When you get two for the price or expectation of one. 2-fer, 2-4, two-ffer, one less than a threefer!

  • white eagle

Funny ken i should of known

  • white eagle

Hey is ther such a thing twofer trike or twofer tanarg?

  • Sally Tucker aka Deafladyhawk

If you fly to Flabob airport, you'll need to be at about 8k' to 10k' when crossing over the Cajon Pass.   Very strong wind venturi (very common in this area), plus strong rotor in this area as well.

Upon returning from Flabob, you can go to Marshall/Crestline where there is paragliding and hang gliding activity.

  • XC Triker

@SallyTucker Thanks for the local tips (always very helpful), you wanted a ride to FlaBob right?  I'm sure we'll be able to take you.  You can point out Marshall/Crestline on the way back (I flew there once in a HG, but don't think I can find it by air now).

  • Sally Tucker aka Deafladyhawk

I would love a ride to Flabob please.   My home is in Crestline on 22458 Waters Drive.  The hg launch is just 1/4 mile straight south of my home.
