Plane Crash After Engine Failure

Found this on youtube - why were they in a spin after failure? Strange isn't it.

When the engine began to sputter I started yelling at the screen "Get the nose down you idiot!".  Nose high attitude and subsequent stall sure caused quick entry into a spin.  Then I caught myself trying to talk the guy through it.  "Nose down, opposite rudder", I kept repeating out loud.  Why the heck was this guy doing all the maneuvering after the spin recovery?  He ate up all of his altitude and airspeed with all of those tight turns, and virtually eliminated his chances for what could have been a relatively uneventful "unscheduled landing".  It did look like the swampy ground may have caused the gear to dig in and flip the craft, though.  Can't really blame the pilot for that...
