I have tried to upload the video three times, and for some reason I wasn't able to.. here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=icfU8WN6Un0

Problem was the 'feature embedded part. I cut that out and thar she blows!

Hi RizzyWizzy, I don't think his wife will be flying with him for a wile. He got the look and the silent treatment.

  • XC Triker

    Oh, yeah, she's mad!!!

The engine RPM reduced radically at ~ 01:10, but then idled OK for a bit... I was wondering if he was power out?  Why land on that road otherwise.  No motor sounds after the crash, no sounds from his wife either-- but that look said volumes  ...  ;)

Hi XCtriker, I have seen that look before and the silence from the wife was defening... Either way they made it down safely, and that's all that counts.

Thanks for fixing it. I believe (if I remember correctly) it says in the video (youtube comments) that she did fly again, so that is good. I think under the circumstances he did a pretty good landing. This could have ended really really bad for both the pilot and passenger.

So, Rizzy was it a power loss?

  • RizzyWizzy

Honestly I have no idea, you can hear some engine noise in the back, but that doesn't mean anything, when I had my first engine out, I believe it was a power loss at first, my engine was running but very slow not producing enoung power to sustain a level flight, one of the EGT's dropped all the way down. I don't know what happened with this dude, but I sitll think he did one hell of a job landing the plane and walking away from it. It seems that he rushed on landing it (perhaps fearing any on coming traffic) and he landed kind of on the right side and clipped the road sign...he could have possibly saved his aircraft. But who am I to say anything, I was not in his situation and personally I think he did a great job of being able to walk away from it. Seems there was some luck there too, when he tries align himself with the road you can see a powerline running across, he was lucky that there was not any other powerline there.

Looked like some powerlines in the trees on the right side at 1:36.

I was amazed he was able to set it down.  The slot between the trees looked very narrow.  Did he hit the sign on the right?

I think he might have hit the sign.... Abrupt right turn comes right afterward
