I think many of us a guilty of 'extending' our flight to have a better look around. It's something that I am conscious of not to do if I have planned my fuel - not that I am yet doing XC as yet. This was huge news, especially since the Pilot (if I recall correctly) tried to eat the memory chip from the video camera recording the flight.
