We headed due east along the northern edge of Canyonlands National Park to the Colorado River side. This fin of rock is below Dead Horse Point State Park and just outside of Canyonlands National Park. It's near the "Caveman Airstrip", if you know where that is.
We got up 2hrs before sunrise. The wind was still blowing, 8kts at Milford, out of the south. We talked to a helicopter pilot yesterday. It is always blowing here. We took off, did a touch and go and headed north for Ibex.
We steadily climbed out of the valley to reach the top of the 12,500 ft mountain north of Creede, Garita Peak. From there we followed a high mountain ridge to the east.
