When dry lakes are wet

Damien B got this shot of me over the Eldorado "dry " lake. His last visit this November was just after 4 days of constant rain in Vegas

How long does it take the dry lake to dry out after a single storm like that?  How do you judge when it's ready to land on (other than driving out on it and setting up)?  (For EXAMPLE )

We have a steady stream of morons in trucks driving about, making mud, and getting stuck. But in doing so they usually show us the landable places. I've also used a technique where I touch the mains down and then go around with a low pass to see if I'm making mud and ruts or not. Usually OK to land if not, but you are on your own on that technique, no guarantees.  Always better to depend on the guys trying to stick their quads and trucks

    Thanks!
