Hi YFT, I know you usually keep your trikes in hangars. But here your trike is outside (yea, all are out) in the open.  I think that tying your control bar to the front tube isn't good when a dust devil comes. You saw my photos of gatherings in the open country of Myjava.  The winter wind turned some trikes on their propellers because they had the control bar tied like you do. The wing has a large positive angle, the front of trike is lightweight and it's easy to turn over it if the a dust devil comes.  I always tie my control bar down, against the seat.  That way my wing has a negative angle and is hard to turn it over.  What do you think about it?

Ahoj Jozinko, How did the sales trip go? When we arrived at YPOK there was no wind and it is in a valley. The hills around YPOK are 4000 and 6000 feet high. We were only there for a short time. This is not my home airfield and I flew there with Noel C, and Hedgview. I couldn't stay long and only had time to say Hi to some friends. I had to get back to YYWG as Bigle was waiting for me. Two other Trike friends also were waiting for me at home as well.

Hi Jozinko,  I think it depends on the area and the winds.  If the winds are from the rear, with the nose up, it will push the trike down (good) and the heavy end is into the wind.  In this case also, the trikes are facing the hangar-  not a lot of wind will get up under the nose of the trikes that way-- so I would park them this way too-- Protected from the front (by the hangar) and from the rear by the trailing edge being down.   If it was windy, I would also not only tie the wings off at the sidewire/leading edge junction, but would put a rope on the nose and the keel too.

I know what you mean with dust devils though (little mini tornadoes)-- you're not sure which direction the wind might come up under them.  Again, in this situation though with their noses to the hangar, I think there it's less likely that much wind will come from the front.

Other ways of tying down are with one wing on the ground into the wind.  I've done this before too (on grass).  If it's really windy, you can put your basetube on the ground (removing the front tube).

In this movie, you can see we did that:

However, the wind tends to rock the wing / basetube and it can kind of grind into the pavement.  I found some plastic bottles in the trash to wedge under the corners of the control frame to protect it, but now I carry some pieces of rubber from a tire I cut to put under the control frame corners to protect it in that situation.

This is s GREAT discussion topic!!!   I'd like to learn more from you guys!

Ahoj Peter. My sales trip to Mallorca? Some times I thought I was on another planet... When my colleagues spoke English fast.   However, if I spoke slowly and they spoke slowly too, it was fine.  It was like a big school room for me--  for English and business issues too.

Nice video XC!  Yes, in that setting you might do that, when the wind is strong for a long time. But I think with a weaker wind, with a more normal trike/wing setting, if you have the nose of the wing tipped down, it's safer whichever side the wind comes from.  I tie my control bar down. That way wind from the front doesn't lift the front of wing and from the rear, the wind doesn't see enough profile on the rear sail. I saw these tying on a more photos and videos.  Sometimes it was quite critical to consider the wind. I think the manufacturer provides a tie there so you can get in and out comfortably. Yea, this is theoretical discussion because you are used to do it a long time and all is OK. :)

    You've got good points Jozinko.

@05:14 you can see that the front tube is on the ground as well.  I found some plastic in the trash can to protect it, but now I carry a PVC "T" fitting that fits perfect for future use (along with the tire pieces mentioned above).  So, you can just undo your front tube and lower your wing (quicker / easier) and place the "T" piece on the end of the front tube where it rests on the asphalt.

I like the quote at the end  Henry saying, "The Three Amigos"  Me, Henry & Jim C.

I think that that XC trip (in the 8 movie series made by Henry "Top to Bottom") flying from the top of the continental US to the bottom (Canada to Mexico) on the beach and "camping" along the way in the RV my wife drove for us was the best trip!!!  But ...  there is MegaFauna 2014 coming up!!!  and @Yarrawonga tells me there are still 10 spots left.     Well @GeorgeB  @Ttabs , what's the decision going to be.  Maybe watch some video clips later, or be in them, create them, LIVE  them?  Jozinko (@Sajan) is going!  Everyone else!!??  What perfect moment in your life are you waiting for?  There is no time like the present.  Carpe Diem !!
