ken and i were flying a beaver ul doing a freebie promotional photo-shoot of 'boris' and 'his 'bulldog' an engine-out-front gyrocopter' ken was opperating a humoungous camcorder on his shoulder, it recorded directly to vhs tape cassettes, ( fellow geezers will remember them). i had the stick in back and couldn't see much out front so was flying looking to the side. ken and camera blocked where we were going. we had inter-com but no radio, so had no idea what 'boris' was 'gonna do next, and as gyros can 'stop' in middair, combined with the 'barge-like handling of the plane was leading to some 'interesting' flying ! ken was issueing terse instructions, left, right, up, down, etc. i had to try to maintain spatial orientation . ken had one eye glued to the view-finder, the other shut. as i was a fairly low time newbie airplane driver things were getting 'interesting'. then we hit some 'moderate' burbulance. i immediately whined to ken, "hey ken, it's getting bumpy". he said "do you want me to take it?". i replied " no, i just thought you should know". ken said "then shut-up and steer". so i did. ken now is a captain for alaska airlines, i don't know what became of 'boris' and his bulldog, but as i now fly a 'driver only' trike i can't whine to anyone about 'bumps', and i just have to 'shut-up and steer'. monty
