The 43rd Annual COPPERSTATE Fly-In will be held at the Casa Grande Municipal Airport (CGZ) from Thursday, October 22nd through Saturday, October 24th of this year.

Since its first event in 1973, Copperstate Fly-In has been bringing together aviation enthusiasts in the southwest United States. Copperstate Fly-In, Inc. is a volunteer run, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting recreational and general aviation through events, scholarships, and public education. Proceeds from the Copperstate Fly-In help support scholarship programs for youth seeking careers in the aerospace industry.

The Copperstate Fly-In is under the sole ownership, control, and operation of Copperstate Fly-In, Inc. and not the Experimental Aircraft Association Inc. (EAA). Copperstate is the largest Fly-In of its type in the western United States and the fourth largest Fly-In in the United States. It is held at the Casa Grande Municipal Airport (CGZ) in Casa Grande, AZ. Casa Grande is located approximately halfway between Phoenix and Tucson.

COPPERSTATE is expected to generate an unusually high volume of VFR traffic in the vicinity of CGZ. Since this airspace is routinely subject to intensive student training activity, the amount of VFR traffic concentrated in a relatively small area will be extremely high; consequently, pilots are urged to exercise extreme caution when conducting operations in this area.

Due to FAA implementation of a user fee structure to fund air traffic control operations at Special Events, there will NOT be a temporary control tower in operation or any special arrival/departure procedures in effect during the Fly-In. Pilots operating to, from, and in the vicinity of Casa Grande Municipal Airport during this period should follow standard recommended practices for operations at non-towered airports, utilizing CTAF (122.7). Pilots should exercise extreme caution for heavy traffic in the area.
