henry i dont see why that wouldnt be doable from bonner.  just a little xtra time to kalispell. didnt you fly that route before thru troy and libby?

I spoke with Dave Parker - Manager of Bonner Co Airport and our host for this years fly-in regarding details for the event.  Here's what we all have ....

There will be room inside the fence for RV's and tents.  Dave will mow an area for our use based on how many will be camping there - so let us know if this is your option.  There obviously are no hookups, but a water spigot is available.  He has 3 picknic tables and additionally folding tables to handle 50 people for breakfast fly-ins.  There are 2 restrooms with showers in the terminal that will be available to all.  Obviously BYO towell.  They also brew coffee and serve gourmet Ice Cream as well and offer a pilots lounge.  A large hanger will be available to stack trikes in and 100LL gas is available. Also Dave will have a BBQ grill for our use as well as provide TWO courtesy vans for our dispose.  In otherwords, we'll have more than we could ask for.

    BUT WAIT .... THERE'S MORE!

A gas station complete with truck stop that serves meals all day is located just out the main gate.  (there's your mogas and vits).  Decent food served for Br, Lu, and dinner.  Also Dave as a few gas cans we can use, but we should bring more if we can.

There is a gourmet bakery/coffee shop within walking distance for those demanding more calories and octane.

The Log Inn Motel is about 1/4 mile from the gate and cost will be about $85/night.  Reserve now if interested cuz they have about 17 rooms.  Supposed to be very adaquate.  208-267-3986  Check out bonnersferryloginn.com for more info.

Also available is the Kooteni River Inn - about 3 miles away - is actually the Best Western Plus hotel located at a casino w/ pool (that could be really nice) for about $150/night.  Someone has to stay here so we can all jump in the pool!   208-267-8511.

Dave is extending his hospitality to early arrivals and well as late departures - what ever we wish.

There you have it!  Let Screaming WhiteBird know if you plan to camp so we can get a good estimate of useres there and if you'll be arriving early/staying late.

OH yea - we may be able to get a local radio station to broadcast from our fly-in and I'm trying to get a writer from the local paper in the air so they can run a story on THURS (when we are there) giving us local press.  I'm also going to suggest we pass the hat for use of the hanger to donate back to the airport - what's it worth per night to stow your trike?

All we have to do now is .... show up and have a good (safe) time!

  • Happy Triker

Tom, that sounds super !! I'll be there aday before the fly-in.

  • Rick D

David, sorry for the RSVP. Debbie was surfing AllTrikes and accidently hit the button. Unfortunately I don't think we will be able to make it this year. Hope it is the best ever!

  • GeoBlaze

Thanks Tom and David for your efforts in coordinating this event.  Sounds like its shaping up to be a great time.  Just made a room reservation at the Log Inn.  Sounds like there may still be rooms available.

Okie dokie folks.  Its getting close to the bonner (elkriver)fly in.

Thought id give you all an update. Looks like from the long term forcast we should have some cooler weather  coming  so it should be a pleasant break from the very unusal northern heat we have been having.

As to date were hearing from about 28 trikes coming realisticaly i have a good guess that there will be at least 20 to 25 trikes

Tom will do a press release  at the start and some lucky reporter will prob get a thrill ride. And we will have a day for the general public to promote triking.

Jim ohara will be bringing there russian built side by side trike for all to see  and possably if someone with ecsperience wants to fly it.

The airport has graciously povided a large hangar for us at no cost  so we will probably take up a collection for them in gratatude.

Cfis. I do and have had inquiery into weather any cfis will be willing to spend some time ither doing demo rides or training.from my experience  at fly ins some like to work and some not.So its up to you.

Last i would like to say that this is a non sanctioned fly in.  Tom and i only help cordinate it so ultimate safety  is up to the pilots. Please fly in a safe manner as we want these airports to be trike friendly

Wrapped up the Fly-in with nothing but great stories and renewed friendships.  We hammered the Cabinet Mtns, area valleys, and Priest Lake area.  Nothing but smiles and a great time was had by all.  I hope to share with you videos from the event soon.  I have nearly 1/2 Terabites of video to sift through and it will take some time.  So much good stuff I don't even know where to begin!

Weather was cooperative - especially in the mornings.  Afternoons were windy up until about 8pm.  Then like clockwork, the sky filled up with trikes for the remainder of the evening.  I'll try to get something posted shortly.

  • Leo

Lookign forward to the vids Ttabs!
