wow i bet that is a dangerous job when i was working the flightline in albuquerque a hughs 500 helicopter flew in to the new mexico state prison and picked up an excaped prisnor . the woman who rented the heli for relestate purposes put a gun to charles cheater bellas head and forced him to pick up the prisoner. they then flew to mid vally airport and the prisner got out . with the gun still to his head they then got tailed by a us customs blackhawk who chased them to alb inter airport,there was a hugh crane 100 ft tall doing repair to the terminal. all the aircraft support including myself watched a hour and a half long battle around that crane between the us customs armed with m 16 rifles.and the hughs 500 it was quite impressive to say the least that poor blackhawk was having a heluva time. we all had radios so we could hear most of the conversations and believe me they were going to shoot it down.well the hughs 500 finally serenderd and was forced on the tarmack where airport sucurity came out and fired a shot into the hughs.little did they know charles had a gun to his head. but the woman surrenderd thankfully.imidiatly after i got the call to go over to the tarmack and tow the hughs to the us customs and get a fuel truck to fuel the blackhawk. us customs had charles up against t.he wall for some rough treatment.he lost his helicopters licens buisness and spent the next few years trying to prove his innocence in the matter. last i heard of him he finally won a hugh settlement . poor guy he thinks he gets a good contract gets a gun put to the temple has convicts aboard had to out fly a us customs blackhawk threatining to shoot him down. gets a bullet thru his investment.2 years of lidigation. it happened somewhere in the early nintys so theres footage of this somewhere. now thats a bad day to go to work but that hughs 500 was a very impressive bird. just thought id share this story.
