Working my way up the East River past Crested Butte, to 10707 ft Schoefield Pass, and on to the beautiful grass strip at Marble, Colorado. The big mountain at the center is Gothic Mountain.
We steadily climbed out of the valley to reach the top of the 12,500 ft mountain north of Creede, Garita Peak. From there we followed a high mountain ridge to the east.
This is a view back to the northwest to Garita Peak and the large park below the mountain.
The slot canyon of the San Raphael River appeared a few miles further downstream. It is deep dark canyon with no escape.
