We got up early, leaving our tents and camping gear at the Mineral Canyon Airstrip and headed upstream along the Green River in lightly loaded trikes. This is Bow Knot Bend. WOW.
There is about 20 miles of Glen Canyon downstream of the dam. I looked down at many boats going up and down the river and saw a couple large groups camping in the beaches below.
Turkey vultures also seemed to congregate here !!?? That's all cliff and river you can see over the edge of the hood, road so tight and narrow, you can't see it ...
Sun came out right as the cruise started (more weather / rain coming later today). How does YFT plan the weather and days off sooo well a year in advance??!!!
At the base of Little Grand Canyon is a valley filled with buttes and camping sites. We met a guy at Huntington Airport that told us the local pilots are working to put in a backcountry airstrip here.
...Over all Plusses for Cuyama:
ABRESCO will be there- Balloons, BBQ set up, we are invited as long as we have insurance and sign up. Good camping. Caution: Redline...
