So I'm searching the internet and I don't see one picture of a Tanarg with a Profi TL. Has anyone seen that combo before? Know anything about it? Am I going to be the first?

  • Ken

I read about some in Russia a while back....not sure where

Can't be too far off of Leo's attachment though. I've had a Mustang 2, and the GT5 on mine and all was well.

I'd say you have the best perspective here Ken so I value your opinion quite heavily. I've done the JV research and as best I can tell it should be fine. I'll obviously put it through a phase 1 flight test but it's always good to hear smart people give their blessing and sanity check me. The GT5 is close to a Profi TL and I learned on that wing first. I'm hoping that experience will pay dividends when I start to explore the envelope. I can’t wait to get this pair set up! Having the GTE to first test the wing independently of the Tanarg will really work out!

Congratulations on the new trike.  I have the exact same model, same EFIS and 80HP Rotax....and I really love it.  Funny thing is my wife was instrumental in me buying a Tanarg after she realised how comfiortable it was to sit in the passenger seat compared to an alternate common trike brand here in OZ.  I have been running an Ixess 15 wing to this point but am upgrading to a Bionix wing.  One of the factors I considered was the potential wing loading and type of flying I wanted to do and I ultimately decided on the B15 rather than B13 due to the Tanarg being slightly heavier and only having the 80 HP engine.  Here in OZ to keep our trikes legal we must use only the manufacturer recommended wings and can not deviate to other brands as you can do in the USA.  The only advise I would offer is to consider the wing area when considering potentail climb performance and wing loading

I believe Henry has a Bionix 15 wing for sale at a really good price.

Good luck with it all and enjoy.

Hi Noel, sounds like we went through the same process to get to a Tanarg. My wife wasn't happy in the back seat of my GTE. My Profi TL is a 14.5M so as best I can think it through, it should be a good match for a 80HP 912 with regard to wing loading.

  • Chris

Geometry and such should be fine.  Obviously the Tanarg is a more advanced trike but I put a Profi TL on my AC Buggy and couldn't have been happier.  If I hadn't gone Quik GTR, it was my intention to keep my wing and put it on a Tanarg.  Enjoy!

Hey Chris! Leo Lezzi has been helping me out with all kinds of Profi GTE/Clipper issues and questions. I've got a whole photo book of your old ride from him for references. If it had not been for Leo's Clipper I may not have even attempted a Profi. It was great to have you and Leo do the test Pilot job for me :) I also have read your Profi review you posted a few years ago about 9 times... I like my reseach...

  • Jozinko

My friend made his trike like Tanarg, but without fairing yet and he has Profi 14 wing. He is veeeery satisfied.

  • Chris

    Howdy Scott,

The Profi standard hang block apparatus fit nicely on the AC mast without mods.  The Profi TL has a VNE of 85 mph (140 kph) so the Tanarg/Profi should be a great XC/recreational combo. I am surprised at the conservative VNE as the Profi is incredibly overbuilt compared to my Quik GTR which has a 125 mph VNE.

Joz, Chris, that's music to my ears. I think it's going to be a great combo. Crazy part is I've only ever seen one Tanarg in person on one occasion, (Kens). I'm hoping to wrap up the GTE/Profi install and inspection on Sat and possibly take it up for it's maden flight on Sunday morning. The WX report is still bouncing around for this weekend but I have my fingers crossed. Looking for some very smooth air for a first flight. I'll most likely upgrade to the electric trim system that you installed Chris but that's later. Right now I have it set in the one up from the rear HB location. Frank passed that the other recent buyers seem to feel most comfortbale in that location.

  • Ken

    So when is santa coming?

  • Wile E Scott

If all goes wel,,, morning of the 28th. LONG drive there, then LONG drive back. What we do for our toys! lol
