Crossing the Grand Canyon North, Dragon Corridor

We maded it to the south rim, and could see the Grand Canyon Airport about 5 miles to the south.  It's a busy airport, so we passed on landing there.  We flew west for 25 miles then lined up on Dragon Corridor to return north.   With the tailwind, the north crossing took 12 minutes which was fine by me.  I did not want to linger too long over the center of the Canyon.  On the south bound Zuni Corridor crossing, we flew parallel to the rim and had many bail out options to the left.

Ahead on the North Rim I could see a forest fire burning.  Looked like a controlled burn.  Dragon Corridor took us right over the fire.   The air was very thermally and rough.  It was probably due to the the fire, and also the 30mph winds hitting the higher north rim of the Grand Canyon and deflecting up.  I was glad to have the tailwind to quickly get past this stretch of rough air.  We continued on, returning to Marble Canyon.
