Man that engine looks sweet! I'm very interested in your impressions of the BMW with the Orca. I'd love to have a reduced wingspan but I'm leery of handling changes that would be past my experience level.  Be careful going from your 19M NW to this! I hear it's a huge difference.

    Hey Wile,

I got this wing because I knew I would never see the engine potential with a 19. I'd always just be pushing a 19 through the sky and my engine power would never be realized as my 19 was only good for 55. This Orca wing will top at 80 with a hands off at 60. Once I figure out what kind of prop pitch will help me with gas sipping, I should be dialed in. I have extreme minimal pitch now at about 11 degrees. I do have some training coming for this new ride as I dont want to whoops a new machine. New to me anyway. I only just got done building the BMW part. I can tell you the power sure makes it get up and move fast. I plan on doing everything slow and safe as I work myself into this machine. I just got done mounting the extra rear wheel struts to make it strong for the engine weight. But I plan on mostly flying solo anyway.

Orcas are a good first step into fast wings.  They are easy to fly and land, and provide good pitch feedback.  They feel and fly like a bigger wing.  You just need enough HP to push them through the air.  If you have the power, they are an excellent transition wing.  It may or may not be the stepping stone to a faster wing, but chances are you'll be satisfied where you are.  They are really rugged.  Note reaserch with mine shows a worthwhile improvement with the fairings (strut & downtubes).  You should have them IMO...if you leave in the hanger.  If you set-up every time you fly...forget the fairings.

Congrats!    I fly an Orca and it's such a great wing.  Fast enough, nimble, and so easy to fly.

Please let us know final actual speeds with the new setup.
