503 filters and punp.

the glass filter had very little debris in it, it is between the tank and the pump. the short length of hose joining the two was very rotted inside. i use premium gas, no particular brand. the 'stuff' they put in the gas now culd be the cause, and most cars would be using high pressure hose now to feed the fuel injection systems. irun the electric pump in series with the vacuum pump, not experiencing pressure compounding, (three years ago i replumbed the system from parallel to in line.) a lot simpler to do. the down-side is that it only takes ONE blockage to foul things up! oh well, you can't win em all!

I'm not sure I understand:  the short piece of hose (that rotted) was UPSTREAM of the original filter?-  then why no debris in it?  but you say the short hose is between tank and pump?  My bad, just trying to figure it out.

So, it looks like you have black plastic shielding over your hoses to keep the UV off?  Nice.    I see your rock skirt too.  We were helping GeoBlaze @GeorgeB make one up at Elk River, but it seemed like we caught his REAR wheel throwing a big rock, not the front tire ...

neg xc, the routing goes from tank to filter, T for 'squirter', then to sucking end of pump, then to inlet of vacuum pump, then to (now) both extra filters then into the carbs, phew!. the water has no problem getting into my fuel in wash state, (we INVENTED rain!) the humidity is normally high, but with cool temps (thank goodness!). i've tried every kind of rock shielding, the best was a FULL under prop arc netting, (on my previous home made trike), now i,m just resigned to repairing the fan every now and then. did i mention the dog ate my camera manual? (thus the poor photos!) well, now he,s nibbling on my grammar text-book! monty
