Made a Nanolight.

By Garrett Speeter

Nanolight flight today. Recently put this little guy together with a friend. Entire craft weighs about 90LBS. Has tiny 13-18HP Solo 210 ultralight aircraft engine. I have 600$ into it. Manages 450 ft/min climb at full power. Power off sink rates measured about 150-250-275ish ft/min down 350 in some spots. Glide Ratio quite nice at about 10:1 in very thick still 15F air. Measured in glide down from 2000 feet. Speeds 20-65 ish using old reinforced 1991 Performance hang glider wing (UP TRX). Flew Parallelogram from MP13 CHSR to RC Strip on Tanana to BSR in North Pole to Nordale and back. Got a cold weather injury on one finger. Hurts. Rewarmed with dog belly. Really hurt.

Good effort; I know that getting a homebuilt really dialled in takes engineering and a bit of art.  How's the dog?  ;-D

Garrett  you never cease to impress me. Those stats look really good . I have a sky cycle nano with an old g 25 engine. Its on a wills wing tandem falcon 3 wing. My bud j ebb has the same sett up only he has a kawasaki 340 same wing. I havnt been to impressed with the climb rates probably mostly because of twomanyhotdogitis disease. Ultrikepilot has been helping me with adapting a longer 3 bladed ultraprop but i had to change my rear flying wires. Almost finished. A really good climb rate is very important where i fly because of mountains and trees. Ultrikepilot and i were discussing your flying season. If i recall your near fairbanks.does that get warmth fed to it from the japanees current say like anchorage does. I tell people that southern alaska is usually a warmer winter than this part of western montana.ive been to alaska three times.I would love to come up and fly with you someday.I spent an entire summer at takyise lake up near dawson creek once way cool. When i was younger took a harley trip to alaska via the ferry at prince rupert then back down the pacific coast hwy to deep mexico. The whole trip was over 12,000 miles.alaska was my favorite. My wife loves sitka she was just there last year wants to move there? Winter flying im sure is alot like here baby glass air all the time.crispy air with moonlight twinkleing diamond snow.  Have you ever flown at night there in the moonlight snow as light as day.that would be so cool video with the aurora boreallis going on. Iam going to try to fly much more of this winter

Would like to see more of your homebuilt nanolight thanks
