I've been to this one now a couple of times and it is always a great event!

I'm thinking about going, especially if White Eagle ( @Wambleska ) and his buddy and NEW TRIKE PILOT (just soloed- long time Hangie) J Ebb go !!! Congrats J Ebb (@cloudbase)!!!! Say hi to Norm Bjorn... for me too!

Here is a video of last year's event. You can see why you won't want to miss this event

Hey @SallyTucker if I go, I could stop at flying J on the way out and pick you up. It's a long desolate flight out there though (I met you in person first time on the way back at flying j last year)

I remembered that day we met upon your return from Lake Havasu.  I was thinking about driving out there for weekend.  I'll keep that in my mind.  Thank you for asking.

I'm still working on my trike.   I got my trike outside of my garage for an hour, then outside temp got down to 41, brought trike back inside garage.

We might expect snow tomorrow and Sat, who knows.

The Quartzsite RV show is going on at the same time (Jan 18-28th).  I'm kinda interested in getting a small RV that can tow (though I'm not interested in a new one, I'd like to check out floor plans).

Blythe Airport is only a 60NM flight down the river from Havasu--  Great Day trip adventure.

Then 30 minute drive to Quartzite--  most airports have courtesy cars.  Haven't checked yet if Blythe does, but this sounds like a fun trip from Havasu.

Just received an email " FLIGHT ADVISORY - Hector, CA"  I didn't know where Hector was initially, but it is directly on some of our routes out to Havasu.  GPS testing is occurring / may be unreliable to use in the area up to 155NM radius.  Fortunately, it is currently scheduled to occur on Tuesday and Wednesday (Jan 14 & 15) and many of us aren't passing through the area until Thursday the 16th or later.

Here's the LINK with Map & description

Thanks for posting the Flight Advisory.  Tell me if I am reading the time and duration of the test correctly.  It looks like the test period is from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM  Pacific time (2200Z -2230Z) on the 14th & 15th of January.  Is that the way you read it XC Triker?

  • XC Triker

Hi Kim @flyingleap,  yes, that's what I read as well.  Are you going through that area at that time?

  • Kim

Hi XC, the short answer is probably.  I'll fill you in with a direct email to you.
