    At Hite, we let left the Colorado to follow the Dirty Devil River.  I did my best to keep a landable clear patch of terrain nearby.   If I ever was forced down here, it would be nearly impossible to take off again.

    I found “Royal Arch”, 175ft high with a span of 80 ft, ample clearance for a trike.  On the other side of the ridge was a mini Monument Valley.  It was too windy to explore today, but I plan to return and check it out in the future.

    Cruising up the Dirty Devil River. Near Hanksville, I saw a Powered Parachute circling ahead.  I raised him on the radio to say good morning. He was a little surprised to see the two of us emerge from the middle of nowhere, then disappear into the desert wilderness.

    The slot canyon of the San Raphael River appeared a few miles further  downstream.  It is deep dark canyon with no escape. We followed the slot to Mexican Mountain.  I circled the mountain for fun, then came down to land.

  • GPS Day 4

    We continued down the Rio Puerco Valley to Belen.   We landed around noon and the winds were still light at 8mph, but they would pick up later before we left the hangar...

  • Royal Arch

    We head east retracing our route from Friday. Paul missed Royal Arch on the way out last Friday, so I took him by it this morning. I don’t think I got this close, I just zoomed in with the telephoto on my camera instead.  This arch is definitely calling to me.
