Hi Guys.  Was scolling through the truely spectacular Trike moments put up by Admin for the calendar, and couldn't help but submit this one.  Taken several years ago during a successful trip to Northern Australia, back in the days when the Roll Cloud phenomena occurred much more consistantly than in recent years.

Shot was taken of me in my single seat Trike by a mate flying an Extaccy ridgid wing HG with powered prone harness.  This cloud was extremely powerful, the base only 400ft AGL, but topping out to 7,000ft, and will probably be, for me, the defining flight of a lifetime.  This cloud provided the definative 90 minute engine off cloud surfing experience as it rolled along the ground at 30kt, and have never seen it's like since, and probably never will again.  Some blame global warming for the randomness of the occurance of these monsters in recent times.  The local indigenous folk say we have upset the spirits responsible, by showing dishonour by too many of us flying too close to the cloud spirit in recent years.

Whichever theory you subscribe to, as with many flying experiences, the video or photos never do justice to what it was actually like, but the images are burned into our brains, never to fade for a lifetime.

Wow! What an epic ride that must have been. I liken it to famous surfer Laird Hamilton's notorious ride on Tahiti's big wave documented here: (

) Great shot and I'm sure an unforgettable experience. Congrats. The pic has my vote for the cover shot!
