Here's a SkyVector for where he's at in relation to El Mirage.  I was trying to find out where this "RC Field" is exactly.

    I found a new navigation / sectional website?:  http://VFRmap.com/

The cool thing is that VFRMap.com lets you flip back and forth between sectional and satellite view (you can zoom in much closer with satellite).  It's not nearly as good as Runway Finder was (RWY Finder was better than SkyVector even, but those a' holes at Fligght Prep sued RunwayFinder out of existence --  it seemed a bogus patent lawsuit to everyone... but that's a different story, still don't buy FlighttPrep stuff-- total jerks)

The other cool thing about VFRMap.com is that you can type in plain english names instead of just identifiers--  Like "Felts Field", or "Oceano", instead of having to lookup KSFF & L52 first.

Before the lawsuit, you could plan an entire multi-state route on satellite view with RunWay finder, pick your crossings of water based on how the beach looked for emergency landing on the other side (can't do that with a sectional), go see this tree, that house, that rock formation, etc.  Ken & I made a program to translate all of that into a GPS route-- very cool,  perfect for low and slow trikes who want to see things, not just blast like a Cirrus from A to B,   but .....  greedy lawsuit happy people ruined it.

Anyway, I couldn't seem to find "RC Field" even on VFRMap.com-  Chad, you're going to have to show me where it is.

Dave, If you can see the "R" restricted field near the mid-point of this flight near Silver Lake, that is an old runway, looks too old to land on. RC Field is literally that, an RC plane field that's between the restricted runway and Silver Lake. Hard to see on this map, but I can see it on Google Maps. Now that I look at it, it is near Helendale, not the 15!

Cool, got it, thanks Chad and the GPS coordinates are built into that link you sent.  Thanks!
