Monty it seems to me like a problem with hang block - connecting trike and wing. After take off your trike turn right but not more later. As I saw your wing flew well. You didnt do sides correction. In my opinion you have to check your hang block. If you have a hang block made from two metal plates with silon (or other material into) you have to check straight of the plates. A very small difference up can make a big difference in bottom of trike. Second idea is the side deviation of engine if you did something like this.

  • Ken

I think Joz is probably correct. Everything else looking good. More import question.... what world is this where you aren't wearing gloves rigth now?

  • Monty

hi jos and ken. i'm pretty sure i caused the yaw by 'adjusting' the rear motor mount position. the hang block has always been sloppy, since last century, but it used to take off straight ahead, until my wreck, when it developed a little yaw.  my attempt to fix this resulted in 'mega-yaw' deviation. i've corrected it, i think!  ken, are you the ken that didn't marry the tall chinese girl with the prominent adams apple? or the ken that did? i was best man, i should know!!!!! hugs n farts monty

  • Monty

    no gloves, ARIZONA!!!

also it's easier to phone for help if/when i crash,

  • Monty

jos, the hole through the mast for the 'jesus bolt is drilled not at right angle to the keel, this trike was a rental and was subject to much abuse and repairs but i didn't notice much control problem till i moved the rear motor mount position.

  • Ken

Well in that case I suggest as a "pro tip" that you adjust the rear motor mount the other direciton. I definitely dont have any chinese apples in my house.

  • Monty

The yaw problem was caused by the rear motor mount plate twisting under high load . I replaced it with a herky plate no twist it takes off straight now. I'm waiting a few more weeks of spine healing before attempting to 'slip the surly bonds of earth', Qu . Its been almost 7 dog years! Since I flew. I remember push right go left, or is it push right go the other left? I'll find out!

  • Ken

I think stay away from the loop da loops and you should be good Monty. Glad to hear you are still on this side of the dirt!

  • Monty

Thanks gf, age is only a number, though a scary one! Last time I flew was October last year in thick fog, fifty foot visibility, cruising at fourty nine foot altitude . Over familiar ground , then a week later I tripped and fell in my basement smacking my head on the concrete floor causing a sharp bony spur  to dig into my spinal cord, neither of which I knew I had! 85k $ of spinal surgery later im re-learning how to walk etc its kind of a nuisance but coulda bin worse . It does prove that trikes are safer than basements! I'm getting to be the bionic octogenarian, two knees, two shoulders, two hernias, one wrist etc. I'm about ready to aviate again but I can only get out Saturdays, my wife has altzeimers and thats the day I can get a minder for her, so I 'm looking forward to my next sat mornings! Don't you guys use up all that sky, leave me a little bit!  Monty

  • Monty

Yeah Ken, still here, I can't die yet, there's still a few people I haven't pissed off . Ken, I see you'r still using your grannies picture as your avator? Hugs n farts monty<

  • Ken

Got to - My granny is a hell of a pilot!

  • Jozinko

What was last weekend Monty? Did you fly? Or you stepped into a rabbit hole LaughingCoolTongue Out

  • Monty

Hi jozzy, no still not flown yet the neck is still a bit stiff, the surgeon took out three bony things from the neck . I would like a short refresh flight but unfortunately we don't have any two place trikes or instructors available locally so I'll wait a little while before attempting to join the birds , no no rabbit hole , that sounds dangerous! ( don't tell Ken I said this, but his granny is beginning to show her age, maybe some photo shop touch up will help!) monty "

  • Jozinko

Hahahahha Monty, mentaly you are OK thats fine! As I know you. And body? Take a time... it will come the right time when you join the birds again.

  • Monty

Yeah jozzy, i taxied around the airport and had no problem till I tried to get out of the seat! Arms and legs aren't responding to instructions! I'll get  that part figured out, I got to stop whineing and just do it! Monty

  • Monty

I haven't heard from trabsock the infamous sheep wrangler, maybe he has settled down with Marino Hara ( known previously as the 'unsullied one ' ) to raise some mini tubesocks , bringing peace and quiet to those auntiepodean NZ meadows. Monty

  • Monty

Hey jozzy and Ken's granny, yesterday I rejoined the birds and flew my trike , first time in a year. No control problems , though  I left my keys and wallet on my van seat, just in case!! My spine problems makes walking in a straight line unlikely but don't apparently affect my trike ability ( or lack of, depending on who you listen to!)  its a big weight off my mind knowing I can still dabble in the second best 'sport' on earth, ( or above!) monty

  • Jozinko

    Great news Monty! Well done!
