SOLAR IMPULSE'S FIRST
ROUND-THE-WORLD SOLAR FLIGHT
Swiss explorers Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg are the founders, pilots and driving force behind Solar Impulse, the first airplane of perpetual endurance, able to fly day and night without a drop of fuel. By attempting the first Round the World Solar Flight, they want to demonstrate that clean technologies and renewable energies can achieve the impossible. For the Solar Impulse team, pioneering spirit and innovation can change the world.

The Round-The-World flight started from Abu Dhabi, on March 9. The route includes stop-overs in Oman, India, Myanmar and China. After trying to cross the Pacific Ocean via Hawaii, Si2 should fly across the U.S.A. and over the Atlantic Ocean, heading back to Abu Dhabi.

#‎Si2 landed after 4 days, 22 Hours and 1 minute in Hawaii. Congratulations André Borschberg for this first in history, congratulations Bertrand Piccard for your vision. Congrats #‎solarTEAM...!

Ken, thank you for the post. I had intended to comment earlier.  I have been following this closely. I think it is absolutely awesome! That is an extremely long flight.  Must have been very challenging to get by with little sleep.  I wish these two pioneers the best in completing their record setting around the globe flights only powered by the sun.

Yes just a great achievment.   Ever scince we talked ken  ive just been buzzing about a solar electric soaring trike.it would have to be able to carry some light weight camping gear be able to land in somewhat rough terain. Wow fly to altitude  thermal ridge soar xc. Land let it charge up in the sun.way way cool.  No need for house , car payments,no more bills,no more 500 news.  No politics . Just fly around from sea to desert to forest gather a few fish nuts and berries . I like it
