Thanks guys for all the comments.I think there was 69 balloons it is always fun flying in havasu with reb and the gang they are all so helpful and friendly.
A few years ago Arizona had a Balloon / PPG collision bringing both vehicles to the ground,
The Balloon was Assending at a VERRY fast rate of climb, the PPG was a Trike & the Balloon was below the nose wheel of the trike, Neither pilot saw the other,
It is the responsibility of the PPG to avoid ALL OTHER AIRCRAFT.. The PPG embedded it self in the Balloon.
Balloons can legally ascend at 1000' per minute (but capable of faster ascents. The pilots view above the craft is very limited (mostly because there is a bloody big balloon above their heads!) so that is why you should be extremely cautious when overflying a balloon.
Hey guys I didn't want to start the balloon wars here we were all briefed before hand not to over fly and not to fly towards the basket.i was more worried by the other trikes than the balloons
No balloon wars here Dean. Just clarifying how fast balloons can ascend and why overflying is to be avoided. Yes, the other trikes are the worry. They move a bit quicker than balloons. I have a commercial balloon licence and used to enjoy other aircraft coming in for a bit of a look.

I flew my trike at the outskirts of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta many years ago.
Two trikes and a line of 5 or 6 PPG's weaving between balloons. There were hundreds of balloons nearby.
Now when I fly with balloons I try to avoid pointing the nose of my trike directly at the balloon. I think we make them uncomfortable.

I've flown at the last 3 or so Havasu festivals. Absolutely fantastic with the lake as the backdrop.
