Thank you WE, beautiful video!!! I love it! On 2000 I was on my 1st championship in Slovakia and we had a discipline for best fuel comsumption. We had 5 liters of fuel only and we must to fly for a longest time and we must return and landed on airport. In this time was not thermal, but it was windy in this time. I flew to mountains and I used a wind, who blew by side of the hill up. At first I had 1m/s climbing, if I was higher, the wind was help me much more and when I was over the top of the hill I had the engine idle speed and my climbing was about 4m/s. I was there about 30min and return back to airport. When I was over airport, my engine stopped, because I had no petrol. I landed after 47minutes. It all with my fathers trike, 11,8m wing and heavy VW1200 engine.

Great video W.E. Would love to do that flight in a soaring trike. But think summer would be better time. Think an enclosed cockpit was needed for that flight. Hey, I did some thermal soaring last weekend at the Father's Day fly-in near Dillsburg, PA. I did not cut off the engine but I did throttle way back to where I normally would sink out. Got up to a bit over 2500' with a broad lift band. Was a bit surprised since normal sink rate is pretty high with my 13M wing. Any way, had quite a few great flights and a blast at the fly-in. That ridge soaring reminded me of what we talked about doing on the Mission range near Polson. Yeah, would really like to check out some orographic lift there. take care brother.
thanks joe nice iam so glad you got some thermal time you deserve it.nathan my flying buddy up in polsen is getting a atf soaring trike. so we got 3 up for the mission range. it just keeps looking better and better.
