This is the first of 9 movies of "Top to Bottom" flights, in which 3 pilots (David, James and I) flew along the entire US west coast on our light-sport trikes in 2011 summer. We trailer-ed our trikes to Arlington, WA, then we flew to Orcas Airport, located 5 miles south of the Canadian border, where we started our ambitious journey on July 25th. We had very good weather and could come back to our home airports (Santa Maria and Santa Paula) by August 3rd (8 flight days). We are going to finish the rest of our trip from Santa Paula to San Diego and Mexican border by the end of August."

    Northern Territory Flights

Uploaded on Aug 9, 2011   We trailer-ed our trikes from Southern California to Arlington, WA for the big x-country flight on the west coast. We jointed with 4 local trikers, Finski, Gary, Vince and Wayne. For the first few days, we enjoyed the local flights near Arlington. David, James, Wayne and I flew to Concrete Airport to attend Cascades Vintage Fly-in. The route was fulfilled with a lot of spectacular scenery.

22 Airports Landed in "Top to Bottom" journey

Uploaded on Sep 6, 2011  Bear with me. It's a long movie. Almost 40 minutes. It shows all landings we made during the journey.

    Fly with Clouds

Uploaded on Sep 7, 2011  This movie focused on the clouds we encountered over the trip. Most of them were beautiful no harmful, few of them were a little nasty. They are the spices in the sky, make our flights more special, unique and tasty.

Yea, its my favorite video serie. Great job, guys!

  • madmik

If you liked this, and might like to really fly it (2015), put your name down as an EOI only. It's listed in the events... [click this blue link]. Don't just dream it, do it...

  • Jozinko

We will to speak about it together on Megafauna. I wrote with XC Triker about Top to Bottom 2015 flight. As is saying in our country: sometime a mattok will shot out... In my case, one time a mattok had been shot out... and I have a border ticket to Australia in my pocket :)

  • XC Triker

What's a Mattock?! ;)   That's great guys, this was a spectacular adventure-- probably my favorite.  Flying with good friends, spectacular scenery and no rush.  It could not have been done without the help of my wife however--  she was under represented in the movie, but drove a nearly 60' rig the whole route (ferrying out into the San Juans too),  calling all airports for hangars and services as we approached, feeding us and helping  fuel our trikes too.

  • madmik

Support operations - the other, equally important, heart bolt on trike adventures. Well done Mrs XC :-).

  • Jozinko

Mattock? Really, I dont know... I mean a equipment with it a people doing on his fields = hoe? :)) Its a thing what can not shoot :))

  • Ken

    Do you mean a plow?

  • Jozinko

hahhahahahah the plow is much more bigger than motyka... hahhahhahahha  I see, there will be very funny with my English in Megafauna.... hahhahhahahh

Hoe - motyka - is hand machine for dig the home field :) I can not put there a picture, I will put it into "Photos"

  • Ken

Ah yes, hoe is correct for the hand tool. I think confusion came from "sometime a mattok will shot out" - where this sounds like something done from a gun. Perhaps you meant shout?
