FU ... Smoke

A lot of burning off (and an unplanned grass fire) create skies currently full of smoke, and poor visibility. It was a good test for aircraft CTAF intercommunications and situational awareness.
I even got to overtake a friend who happened to be out enjoying the smoke too (no hard feelings mate).
All good fun.

Interesting thing was - when I flew near the first fire there seemed to be a noticeable increased turbulence - probably the sinking displaced air from the rising smoke.

I and many others in this neck of the woods are not fans of this annual pollutive burning off - poor health, asthma, sore eyes, etc. Last week (in a recent posted video) a local island with no inhabitants or structures had a so called hazard reduction burn. The city was blanketed in smoke that night as a result. And then the government has the nerve to charge industry for carbon tax (industrial pollution).

Nice video, but your flight back from the island... No too much to visibility :) Who flew with you?
