Comments (1)"On Saturday, just before noon, an Asiana Airlines flight from Seoul hit the sea wall protecting San Francisco International Airport from the surrounding bay. The Korean pilot — trying to land a Boeing 777 for the first time at SFO, manually — had the plane flying too slow and too low. His apparent attempt to abort the landing for another go was too late, and the tail end of the aircraft hit the wall, sending the rest of the plane skidding 2,000 feet along the runway. Two teenage girls died."

We were talking recently about how many hours before it's "safe" to take passengers:
"Asiana spokeswoman Lee Hyomin said that Lee Gang-guk, who was at the controls, had nearly 10,000 hours flying other planes but only 43 in the 777, a plane she said he still was getting used to flying. Another pilot on the flight, Lee Jeong-min, had about 12,390 hours of flying experience, including 3,220 hours on the 777, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in South Korea. Lee was the deputy pilot, tasked with helping Lee Gang-guk get accustomed to the 777, according to Asiana Airlines. "

Note: the ghost plane is for height comparison only, flying at 137kts (faster than the too slow Asiana jet), it would not have stayed with the doomed plane rather it would have flown off the screen to the left.
