ATOS VX used on a light 2-seater

Well this would not qualify for our Part 103 (true Ultra Light) category, but aside from the 2 seats, I'm willing to bet it would meet all other 103 requirements including max weight.  Would be an awesome way to introduce a learning pilot what it is like to soar with a rigid wing.  There are several models of ATOS wings that are rated for tandem use, so with a very lightly designed trike this could handle 2 people as long as combined pilot and passenger weight are in right range.

How do i find. A plug in to view this on my android.  Anyone know?    I like how you push the envelopes edge with this thinking joe. If we think outside the box change happens . More development.   If we dont push the edge at least in thought it stays stagnant!  I personally wont be completely satisfied till their selling strap on workable feathered wings by ronco. Then i can say goodbeye wally world, hang in a cloudbase and look for a unsuspecting rabbit for supper.

I mean yes i am an intulectual dreamer birdbrain in a imagintive capacity.   But really the more advantage a wing has with efficiency = the longer me an a spouse can hang where the taxman cant reach me or burdened with oposing political circuses.    My new motto ( I FLY THERE FOR I , AM)

Here is the youtube link (

) so you can go directly to youtube and do a search for O8rioZAvhnM and it should show up. This video was uploaded in 2014 so not real recent.  The pilot is Tony Roth and video was taken in southern Germany.  But video was uploaded by Colin Fargher and his youtube channel name is "Col Far".

Thats just plain bad ass , joe.   2 up thermaling.    So why easier to find the thermals power on?

  • ULtrikepilot

I suppose because you can power around without loosing altitude searching for workable bubbles.  BTW, I really do not know what engine is on that trike but I bet the Polini Thor 250 would work even better on that trike 2-up with the ATOS.

Of course your right. I was assuming he was having trouble defining the thermals without power. Made no sense . So that tells me that the lift was light! So i bet 2 up on a good day specking out would be effortless. Speed brakes to get down nice.pulled my soaring trike out yesterday .i think ill take your advice on the polini,  just a great engine. Ive never seen  a centrifical prop fold forward like that hmmmm more drag less drag compared to rear springing hmmmm ? I bet that atos vx is just a real hoot to fly. Would be just great teaching someone the challenging art of chasing lift?

Well if I recall correctly, Toni worked for AIR (company that makes ATOS wings) so I think there was some marketing intent with this video. If I were to buy an ATOS, I think the speed brakes would be a requirement.  A big benefit of that fold forward prop is that you can get better thrust moving the prop further back.

Speed brakes definatly joe. I sure as hell wouldnt want to fight gettin that wing  down on a windy day
