    Cruising up the Dirty Devil River. Near Hanksville, I saw a Powered Parachute circling ahead.  I raised him on the radio to say good morning. He was a little surprised to see the two of us emerge from the middle of nowhere, then disappear into the desert wilderness.

    At Hite, we let left the Colorado to follow the Dirty Devil River.  I did my best to keep a landable clear patch of terrain nearby.   If I ever was forced down here, it would be nearly impossible to take off again.
