    We had steady light rain for about 1hour, starting near Lindrith.  The clouds lifted near the vents where I looked to the side and saw Cabezon. What a miserable flight.  But we made it back safely to Belen.

  • Old fire watchtower

    On our way to Pagosa Springs we passed by this old fire watchtower.  It was tiny, barely 8x8 ft in size.

  • Mud Waterfall

    Winds were calm this morning and we headed straight up the Rio Puerco Valley with few scenic detours.  We took a look at the mud water fall, flowing nicely from the summer rains. We continued due north for Pagosa Springs.

  • Not too bad now.

    It wasn’t too bad initially. We headed towards Jicarilla Airport and the north/south valley that ends near Albuquerque starts there.  I had the corset all the way in and was doing 65-70 mph ground speed.

  • Dark morning.

    It had rained hard last night and my trike was soaked.  I learned my lesson and will put a cover over it next time. The rain messed up my radio, and Paul’s wasn’t working either.  We took off with me in the lead and Paul right behind me.

  • lenticular

    I saw some lenticular-like clouds above me.  Time to get out of here. We threaded between the clouds and crossing the Navajo and Blanco Basins to reach the San Juan River, draining out of Wolf Creek Pass. I was exhausted from this flight.  We skipped the evening flight and go...

  • Chama headwaters

    Looking down into the Chama Headwaters Basin.

    It was another world up here with wide plateaus and alpine lakes.

    We  climbed up high, and then finally figured out where we were for sure.  Above the clouds at 13,999 over the junction of the Blanco, Navajo and Chama River Basins.

  • Blanco Basin

    We followed  a river upstream into what I thought was the Navajo Headwaters basin.  It turned out to be the Blanco Basin.
