That would be awesome to have a wing swapping party! I bet it's been done before.

Im sure, a lot of pilots use Aeros wings with R582 engine there. You can to contact them and try it. First flight you neednt use the e-trim. Your feeling only. Im sure the double surface do better fuel comsumption for your engine. Its different handling between classic Profi wing and TL, but with pleasure I saw a surprise in pilots faces, when they compare my wing with their (older, larger or Apollo - bleeeee:) ) wings.

just got a profi to replace my mako 15.

Profi is better in every way.

I also considered Mustang 15 and Quest gt5 tested both, LOVED both.

Man the quest was sweeet...little more expensive.

I settled on the profi and a tandem hangglider wing from northwing.

wile you have a tough choice . it really is an advantage to train in different machines and wings.as i did as well gives you a healthy respect for are sport. i dont think you could go wrong with the profi wing   with all this great info from different pilots got me interested in the profi wings. id love to fly it.   i flew the quest gt 5 at kamerons right after itwas certified  in pretty moderate turb and i was really suprized how well it handled it. very nice stability.

leo i just took a good look at your trike   what a jewel

joz i wonder how my redback would perform with a profi wing with a 503dci   would that have enough hp

  • Garrett Speeter

Eagle I have a profi and my girlfriend has a redback with a 503.

When I get it all together I can try it on the redback if you want.

    It will probably happen anyway.

garrett that would be just great   i was thinking of having a new  mustang sail made from cameron but because of this blog i am now thinking  i ought to get a double surface wing for better penitration. hell i didnt even know you could use a profi wing on a redback. please let me know the results. i love my airbourne redback its a very sturdy built machine . i flew the airbourne arrow wing in austrailia and i really didnt like it.seemed to me it had some unusual characteristics. some of this may have to due with the lack of 3 degrees offset in the the thrust line for engine tourqe. but at full rpm in a turn wasnt exactly smooth and it seemed to turn smoother if you backed off the throttle.and a wierd little ocillation at full rpm.

joz you flew that arrow as well  what did you think?

wile it will be great to get your review once you get your new wing.

Just placed the order for a ProfiTL 14.5! Red background, black rear strip. NCV upper, PX leading edge. Don't need the sexy winglets, just have a 582. Al least for awhile Leo's going to go 1.5mph faster than me with his winglets.

  • Wile E Scott

Many thanks to all who gave input here to help me out. It was not an easy choice but as others have said, it's a win, win either way I went. With the Euro being so low, it was hard to pass up the deal on the ProfiTL.

"Al least for awhile Leo's going to go 1.5mph faster than me with his winglets."

LMAO! Almost spit out my coffee when I read that. :D

Congrats Scott! You'll love the Profi TL!

Thanks White Eagle, she's a great little trike. Her previous owner was meticulous as am I when it comes to maintenance. :)

  • Jozinko

Congrats to your choise! I agree with Leo: you will love the Profi TL.

White Eagle, "ordinary" Profi 14 will be nice fly with R503. TL probably needs more power. About Arrow wing. Its different construction and it has different flying properties. Its quite hard side to side maneuverability, but it had great stability. And this turning after take off was caused by high gyro moment of prop. Then it was better, when you a little give out the throttle.

joz i knew the stabbing was engine tourqe  but still dosnt make sense why a great co like airbourne wouldnt offset the engines by 3 degrees for tourqe. tanarge dose it and i think revo as well, its a easy fix, as far as the roll ocillation in the arrow wing at full rpm seems risky to me exspecially using full power taking off into turbulance.the other thing xc and i noticed was straight and level flight at full rpm the arrow would track straight but with 10 degree roll bank. felt wierd to me. ive flown maverik quest gt5 streak wizzard bionix mustang eagle xl quick silver and a number of hang glider wings and i have never seen a wing behave like that. i have flown no other arrows for comparison and iam certainly not trying to badmouth airbourne there a great company.  bionix reflex profi are now leading the way  how offen is airbourne mentioned anymore. i hate to see them lose the competitive edge industrial compitition is good for us all.  when i went for my checkride with yft i already knew to back off the throttle a bit because of tourqe and that it turned better when not using full throttle but to me this still is a flaw. i thouroughly loved every minute flying peters tanarg and have never flown a revo but id like too. its good to get advice from fellow pilots when concidering a new wing but the only way to be sure is to fly it yourself. iam sure scott will be happy with his new profi wing and he asked all the right questions. but how often do we see pilots disapointed and having to sell a new wing that say dosnt perform like we exspect. reviewing wings and pilot imput is a great way to keep the manufacturers on there toes.competition between tanarg and revo is a good thing and both tanarg and larry mednick i think work pretty hard at inovation. airbourne seems slacking. kameron at northwing is a very smart guy with a great knowlege of hang gliding wings id love to see him a leader in inovation with the soaring trikes like the solairus. this has been a gret blog with really good imput thanks everyone
