Screw Driver Technique for Tight Batten Strings

The guy in the photo taken several years ago at Salton Sea can only be known as "Mr. Wascher."
Usually for tight strings you can use one hand pulling with the thumb pushing the batten, but if it is really tight .... Put the bottom loop of the batten string on. Then insert a Phillips screwdriver into the top loop of the string, put the shaft of the screwdriver in the "Y" of the batten end and "pry" forward--- with only a tiny amount of pressure, the string will slide down the screwdriver shaft and onto the end of the batten. Voila!!!
