Hi XC. I did address this earlier on a post on our message board so I won't bore everyone with the details again. The short answer is that my partner and I love the idea of electric propulsion but the technology is just not quite ready for prime time with regards to price and performance. We will likely work on a 4 stroke powered by LP fuel first, for many reasons.
Thanks rizzy. Well said. Ill try to post some more close up shots later today to highlight the quality of the design and engineering that went in to these trikes. I too love the ruggedness, and good looks of the AEROTRYK ss.
I like the double side wires and the batten spacing...no more than necessary. I hate battens. Wings like this perform well and set-up fast with minimal battens.
Hi ken. The stats don't lie. This trike has a strong following in the rest of the world and has proven performance and reliability. The only thing we did was spec a larger engine, more storage/baggage capacity and stretched some tubing. The only spec that is optimistic is climb rate as it is tested under ideal conditions and with minimal weight. I can assure you though that it's not embellished. This is why we made the investment to bring this trike to the US market. No other manufacturer can offer this level of performance, build quality, and standard features at this price point.
eaaAce very impressive in climb geo blaze and I were looking at your web site this week end. Shoot him a pivate message with as much info as possible.we were unclear on price? Iam very interested as well.probably going to upgrade my soaring trike in the near future. If you can keep the price realative without creeping up I think you will do well. Any dealership possabilitys.I personally believe far 103 is the future for triking.I don't see any reason that something like my elsa redback couldn't be used for training far 103 soaring pilots. As far as iam concerned soaring trikes with attention to weather conditions is the safest form of flight hands down even over ppcs and ppgs? My original ambition when I came back from hang gliding was soaring trikes! Tourerd kamrons factory and I was going to buy a new atf and a airbourne redback certified for training.with dreams of someday selling soaring trikes and training in the redback.hell I didn't even care if I didn't make a lot of money just wanted to do something that I wanted to do.somehow I got talked out of buying the atf.And the sport pilot thing has been more like how can I jump with bullets flying at my feet. With rules that are more like obsticles rather than incouraging flight safety? At first I didn't understand oles 610 where fun went to die.but I do now.it also seems to me that there are lots of trikers that have loads of years of exsperience and saftey records that have assimulated from the background but have lost the will to lead the way do to beurocratic night mares.truthfully in this economy how many people with the dream to fly and soujorn have the ability to aford a slsa trike.geo and I went to a great eaa event at felts field this weekend and had brisket watched(those magnificent men and their flying machines) with a great group of trike friendly encrediable intelligent pilots. Montana has a great potential for growth of this sport .providing that it is keeped price friendly and bs free? We have to get back into the spirit of earlier days when anyone could afford to learn to fly in a piper cub or the spirit of freedom when a bunch of glideheads could enjoy the spirit of friendship related to the dream of flight. And are best hope of saving this awesome sport is far 103 and reasonably priced soaring trikes. Just my opinion thanks?
Hi WE. You pretty much just summed up why we got into this business... Getting back to the basics and keeping it affordable for normal joes, while still offering a safe high performance product that you would be proud to pull up to any fly in.
I will try to answer your concerns/questions...
No, the (RTF) price should stay at 12999 for the foreseeable future as long as shipping costs don't rise drastically. We air freight our units over here which is expensive but beneficial for a couple reasons. Aviation businesses don't tend to make people rich and ours is no exception. We make enough to pay the bills and that's about it. It's more of a hobby than a way to put my children through college. We have kept overhead low by using the shop (large barn) on my property for prep/assembly and by keeping our day jobs. This enables us to keep the retail price low and still stay solvent financially so that we can stay in business for years to come.
Your dream of instructing and selling trikes is one shared by many in the world but it is often shattered by the insane costs of doing so LEGALLY. There are also many examples of people biting off more than they can chew by starting such a business with a brand new slsa, a new hangar with office, and then closing shop a year later (and in some cases losing their house in the process). Sad stuff but very common. There was an interesting discussion on here a while back about instructing alternatives for new 103 pilots. Something definitely needs to happen in that area to keep this sport alive. There is no reason that we shouldn't be able to use air worthy red backs and other non slsa trikes to instruct but the faa likes to make strange rules. I agree that 103 trikes are the future of this sport which is why we invested in Ace Aviation UK. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, there is no better value in single seat trikes in the US.
On top of that, we are doing things differently than any other aviation company has done. We are limiting options which allows us to prebuy/prebuild trikes and actually keep inventory. This also helps drastically to keep the costs down. We are hoping that this strategy and our unique fixed pricing will help to grow this sport in this country and offer a real option for the average guy (and gal) to safely get in the air and have some fun on the weekends.
We are actively seeking dealers but the requirements are a bit stiff to be honest. My partner has 30 years in retail motorcycle sales and knows better than anybody... A couple bad dealers can kill a brand faster than a bad product. It is for that reason that we take our dealer recruitment very seriously. If you really are interested please send an email from our website and I will send you the lawyers handy work (dealer agreement docs). We offer very competitive fixed compensation per sale and a product that sells itself.
I don't want to write too much of a book here so check out our website for all info. It is very thorough and detailed.
Btw, we are going to be offering a $250 discount for all alltrikes.com members on an AEROTRYK ss if you decide to just buy a trike and not go the dealer route.

Holy cow, that's a good price for a new machine. Any thoughts of electric in the future?
Looks heavier than 254...but if it makes weight...it's a very well built unit, from the looks of the design. I like it!

Hi cburg. Thanks for the kind words and fear not, the AEROTRYK ss is well under the magic 254 rule!
Rugged, portable, beautiful and at a great price...I am so glad that we got some competition in the 103 trike flying.

The stats over on the acetrikesusa page are really impressive
>1000 fpm, 10:1 glide, 0.9 gals per hour, cruise speed 38-50 and not only under 254, but under 200 lbs!
